Stronger Together

Tides of Inclusion · 16–25 January 2027

An 8-day youth exchange on inclusion, migration and belonging for young people from Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Serbia and Türkiye. Days 1–7 follow the session plan in the application form, and Day 8 is a free day for trips around Ravenna. Each working day opens with a face-to-face game, and phone games are built into the sessions where they help the learning.

Places to visit around Ravenna

Ravenna's monuments are in the city centre, and the other places are a train or bus ride from Ravenna station. It's January, so daylight is short and fog is common in the Po valley. Dress warmly, plan to be back before dark, and check winter opening hours. Travel in buddy groups of at least 3. Share your plan with your group leader before leaving, and be back by 18:30 for the farewell dinner. Journey times are approximate, so check the Trenitalia app on the day.

Programme add-on

6 best phone games for the group

These are chosen for a mixed-language group of 35. Each one works in groups of 5–7, and some also work individually or with the whole group. All six are linked to a session or evening in the timetable above. Ask everyone to bring a charged phone, and have 2–3 spare devices for people without data or storage space.

Coordinator notes

Human Library safeguarding (Day 3). Sharing is always opt-in. "Books" are volunteers who prepared their story with a facilitator on Day 2 or 3 and agreed beforehand which parts are off limits. Anyone can stop a conversation or leave the room. Keep one facilitator moving between reading groups, a quiet room open all day, and the group leader of each "book" nearby. Use the last 15 minutes for an emotional check-in, and keep Day 3 evening free.

Daily rhythm

  • 3 sessions a day: 09:30–11:00, 11:30–13:00 and an afternoon session ending at 17:00
  • Most sessions open with a short face-to-face game
  • Daily reflection is the last 15 minutes of the afternoon session
  • Free time after lunch and from 17:00 every day
  • Only 2 evening programmes: cultural nights on Day 2 and Day 6
  • Day 7 holds Youthpass and closing. Day 8 is a free day with no sessions

Group splits

  • 7 mixed groups of 5. Each country has 7 people, so every group gets one person from each country
  • Groups change for every session, so by the end of the week everyone has worked with almost everyone
  • Quick reshuffle: hand out cards in 7 colours at the door, with each national group getting one card of each colour
  • Facilitators join a group when they are not leading the session
  • Pairs and triads for listening exercises, and national groups only for country inputs, cultural nights and follow-up plans

Pre-arrival tasks (from the application)

  • Map local realities of inclusion and diversity in your town (Day 2)
  • A short presentation or story about your community
  • Collect local stories and questions for the Human Library (Day 3)
  • Bring 2–3 ideas for a digital story (Day 5)
  • Prepare about 30 minutes for your cultural night: food, music, a game. Avoid slides-only shows
  • Join the WhatsApp group, Zoom meeting and shared Google Drive
